GLENAVY man Ivor Jess was in fine form in last weekend's Belfast City Council Open Wheelchair tennis tournament.
The Belfast Indoor Tennis Centre was again the venue for the 11th running of the event.

Top competitors travelled from England, Scotland, Wales, and the Republic of Ireland for the three days of intense competition, with a view to securing the prize silverware.

Ivor Jess and Stafford Lynn participated in the main draw doubles and after some fine displays of top class wheelchair tennis Jess and Lynn cruised through to win their semi-final in straight sets 6-3 6-2

This win put the dynamic duo through to the final where they came up against the top English pairing Tony Knappett and Shaun Regan. The local players put up an impressive fight in the first set, but in the end they had to settle for the runners-up spot going down in straight sets 6-4 6-2

The tournament once again proved to be a jam packed three days of sincere competition and the competitors and their associates where again well impressed by the hospitality of the local people they encountered.
