Moyola test for Corner

NEIL Candlish expected his Chimney Corner team to have played five competitive games by the end of August.
Instead, the Allen Park boss will only notch up that figure this weekend – almost a month behind schedule.
And even at that, this Saturday's fixture is a rescheduled match which Candlish has pushed for, otherwise Corner would be facing yet another blank Saturday.
The Antrim side travel to Castledawson to take on Moyola Park which many observers looking in from outside might deem a battle of the 'also rans', with both sides yet to record their first point of the Interim League campaign.
However, Candlish believes that statistic in itself is likely to lead to an even more competitive fixture.
"There's no doubt that both teams will be looking at this game as a realistic chance of picking up their first win," Candlish told Times Sport.
"For the first time this season, there is pressure on my guys because they are playing a team that is on a similar level to them, rather than the Dundelas and Welders that we've played so far.
"A win would be such a big boost to our camp but Moyola will be saying exactly the same thing."
Corner kept in shape during yet another blank day with a 3-1 friendly defeat by Championship side Killymoon Rangers on Saturday.
"It was a good workout and gave me a chance to look at a couple of things in a game where the result wasn't the be all and end all.
"We were three down at half-time but, not for the first time when we've done that, we had a really good second half – the secret is to get the players to start every match like that.
"I had a look at a couple of younger players – Adam Gray actually played for our Reserves before coming on for us for the last 20 minutes and he scored our goal and could have had three, so it will have stood him in good stead.
"I also got to look at Simon Gibson, a centre-back, for nearly the whole game – but unfortunately the circumstances of that weren't the best because he came on for Stevie King who we lost after 20 minutes.
"Stevie had to go off with a hamstring pull which, unlike a dead leg or a knock, you can't run off so we'll have to wait and see how long he might be out for but it's a cruel blow after I spent so long in getting him to come on loan from Ballyclare.
"It just means we will have to put our faith in the youngsters again, give them more experience and help them along as much as we can," added Candlish.
