GREENMOUNT Agricultural College will welcome archery teams from England, Scotland, Wales, Irish Republic, Northern Ireland, Holland, Jersey and Guernsey to the 25th Euronations Archery Championships this Saturday and Sunday.
The Northern Ireland Archery Society (NIAS) last hosted the Euronations tournament in 2002.

Archery is a sport that can be enjoyed by all – males and females of all ages, both able bodied and with disabilities.

Target Archery is an Olympic discipline and in recent years British archers competing in the Games have won individual and team bronze medals.

Target archery has been included once again in the Commonwealth Games and Northern Ireland will be sending a team to New Dehli 2010.

In the past 12 months the British team has had excellent results internationally and it is expected that the standard of competition this year at Greenmount will be high. Some of those competing may be shooting in Beijing at the Olympics in a few weeks time.

The schedule of events for the two-day competition is:

Saturday, July 5 - Gents and Ladies FITA rounds – Team Competition
Sunday, July 6 - FITA 70m ranking followed by Olympic round individual Head to Head.

This tournament has world record status. Registration and inspection of equipment will take place at 8am on both days.

More information about archery and archery clubs in Northern Ireland is available on the NIAS web site at http://www.niarchery.co.uk
