ANTRIM based Schrader Electronics, part of the engineering group Tomkins plc, has just won yet another major business award for its tyre pressure monitoring systems from one of India's largest vehicle manufacturers, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.
Mahindra & Mahindra's automotive sector is in the business of manufacturing and marketing utility vehicles and light commercial vehicles, including three-wheelers.

It is the market leader in utility vehicles in India since inception, and currently accounts for more than half of India's market for utility vehicles

The Group exports its products to several countries in Europe, Africa, South America, South Asia and the Middle East.

The order, announced by Schrader Electronics last Thursday, includes the supply of Schrader's snap-in valve sensor to a new global vehicle platform starting in April 2010 through 2017, inclusive.

Schrader Electronics employs more than 850 people, in two manufacturing plants, in Antrim and Carrickfergus and has a further site in Springfield, Tennessee, USA.

This order has further confirmed its position as market leader in the production of tyre pressure monitoring systems.

Managing Director, Stephen McClelland, commented: "Schrader Electronics is very proud of the fact that we are continuing to grow our business in the Indian domestic market with Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.

"We see Mahindra as being key to our strategic growth in the expanding markets of Asia. Schrader Electronics with its strategy of innovation, world class manufacturing and customer service, has beaten intense competition to secure this award."

Schrader is part of the Industrial and Automotive division of Tomkins plc, a global engineering group listed on both the London and New York stock exchanges, with revenue of over US$5.8bn in 2007. Tomkins plc has over 33,000 employees worldwide and enjoys strong market positions and technical leadership and owns some of the best-known brands in their respective markets.

The US $6.7 billion Mahindra Group is among the top 10 industrial houses in India. Mahindra & Mahindra is the only Indian company among the top three tractor manufacturers in the world and is the market leader in multi-utility vehicles in India.
